About

Having come from an international background, I find it quite hard to say where I intend to be (physically at least) in the future, let alone in 12 months. That said, I do know where I want my career to go, and at the end of the day every country has its pro’s and con’s so really, location isn’t all that important.

Career wise, aiming towards IT is a given. I do quite enjoy the technical side of things, but I’m becoming increasingly conscious that most technical roles are being outsourced at a fraction of the cost of a “local-hire”; which in turn means that the salaries for techies is dropping rapidly. That’s not to say that there isn’t a future in being techie – in fact a highly specialized techie is still in strong demand I believe. The main problem is, I find that if you specialize too much you end up limiting your sight, which isn’t good when you want to see the big picture. As such, I’m currently a Consultant in Symantec’s Consulting and Managed Services side of things, specifically in the Security, Risk and Compliance team.

Now that that most elusive beast is out of the way, my past… My past has been colorful to say the least. I grew up between The Gambia and Italy with brief stints in France, Germany and Senegal. My last 3 years of High School (Including the IB Diploma) and Undergraduate degree were done in England. I am now doing a Postgraduate degree in England, making England the second “most-time-spent-in” country.

I could bore you with stories about my past for hours, but where would the fun be in that? You can always close your browser without fear of offending me… so I’ll wait until we are face-to-face, mano-a-mano so to speak… THEN I’ll bore you about my past.
